Bilkent University admissions and scholarships

A Bilkent scholarship decision has two stages: winning an award and keeping it during study. Compare admission evidence and remaining tuition first, then read the annual progress and course-load conditions.

The short answer

Bilkent evaluates international applicants requesting financial assistance for partial or full tuition waivers. The published award levels run from 20% to 100%; housing support is limited and separate. Meeting an admission minimum does not guarantee a place or scholarship.

Next step: Match your final qualification to the accepted list and request financial assistance in the correct application route.

Admission requirements and the last published intake

The reviewed undergraduate page lists a minimum SAT reasoning result of 1,000/1,600 and an IB diploma minimum of 28/45 with a relevant Higher Level subject. It also provides A-level and national qualification routes. These are application minima, not expected admission outcomes.

The same page states that predicted results are not evaluated and that originals are required after admission. Its 2026/27 fall application window was 2 February–12 July 2026 and has passed. A future intake needs its own current notice.

Build a personal qualification map: final result available, accepted route, subject match and original-document availability. If you are awaiting final results, ask about the next eligible intake rather than assuming a predicted-grade practice from another university applies here.

Tuition waivers and accommodation awards

The international scholarship policy lists five tuition-waiver levels in 20-percentage-point steps. Limited accommodation awards may be available to top students with full tuition support. A full tuition award alone should therefore not be budgeted as free accommodation.

Ask for each covered cost in the offer. If your room award is pending, keep the housing line active until a written decision confirms the type and duration. A provisional aid request is not an award.

2026-entry tuition and a worked net bill

The 2026/27 international fee schedule lists USD 18,400 annually, including 10% VAT, for students admitted in 2026. It has different rows for earlier cohorts and provides for two equal instalments.

Worked example: applying a confirmed 60% tuition waiver to USD 18,400 would leave USD 7,360 annually. Dividing that remaining amount into two equal parts gives USD 3,680 before any other charge, subject to the actual invoice and award terms. This is arithmetic, not a prediction that an applicant will receive that award.

Retention conditions: a scholarship has an academic budget too

The published international policy requires the relevant minimum curriculum course load and an Annual-GPA of at least 2.00/4.00 for tuition support. Accommodation scholarship holders face a 2.50 Annual-GPA threshold. The policy also addresses attendance and reductions when requirements are not met.

Read the definition of Annual-GPA and permitted withdrawals in the original policy. Do not substitute your cumulative GPA for an annual calculation or assume an optional extra module satisfies the minimum curriculum load.

Original planning case: a student considers dropping a compulsory module to protect their average. They first check the scholarship course-load rule with the department and financial-aid office. A higher average does not necessarily preserve funding if the required load is no longer met.

Incoming aid and later merit are different routes

Bilkent also publishes a continuing-student merit route involving annual performance and rank among non-scholarship students. It should not be entered as guaranteed funding for a new applicant.

If the admission award does not make the first year affordable, a hoped-for future merit award is not a secure solution. Build the first-year plan from confirmed resources. Keep any later improvement as a separate upside scenario, together with its exact academic conditions.

A Bilkent offer is ready to compare when…

For research degrees, start again with the relevant graduate department: this page’s numeric tuition and incoming-aid examples concern the international undergraduate route. Do not reuse a historical research-centre scholarship article as a university-wide graduate promise.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bilkent accept predicted grades?+

The reviewed international undergraduate application page says predicted grades, results and scores are not evaluated. Confirm the current intake rules before submitting.

Is a 100% tuition waiver the same as a fully funded living package?+

No. Limited accommodation awards are a separate decision, and other living expenses still need to be checked in the written award.

Can I lose a Bilkent scholarship?+

Yes. The published policy sets academic, load, attendance and other conditions. Read the original rules and ask the university about your situation before changing your studies.
