Choose a course before choosing a funding label
Write down the qualification you want, two or three realistic subjects and the language in which you can study. A scholarship name does not establish that a particular course accepts international applicants or that its teaching language suits you. Compare the actual degree catalogue, compulsory modules and graduation requirements before committing to an application.
For a research degree, turn the subject into a specific question and identify relevant supervision. For a taught degree, compare prerequisites and assessment methods. A university that is famous overall may still be a poor fit for your intended specialism. Keep academic fit as a separate column from the funding decision.

Understand what fully funded leaves out
Compare tuition, accommodation, insurance and living support line by line. An award described as partial may reduce tuition without paying rent or food. Even a comprehensive award can leave travel, translations, medical examinations, visa processing and the period before the first allowance unpaid. Build an arrival reserve instead of assuming that a scholarship means no upfront spending.
Do not compare headline stipend amounts alone. Consider whether accommodation is supplied, whether you must share a room and whether support lasts for the full degree or is renewed after review. Ask for written clarification where the award notice does not identify the start of payments.

Match the application owner to your route
A Type A application normally follows a dispatching authority such as an embassy or national nominating body. A Type B application follows the designated university’s instructions. Shanghai and university awards have their own processes. A university admission account and a scholarship account can be separate submissions; completing one does not automatically complete the other.
Pakistani applicants using HEC should use the dedicated HEC guide in this cluster. Its reviewed 2026/27 round is closed. That does not mean all university routes are closed, and a university opening does not reopen HEC’s national nomination round.
Build a shortlist you can actually complete
Create a working shortlist of three to five programmes. Record the official URL, intake, deadline, timezone when stated, required tests, fee and required portals. Mark a deadline as unverified if the page describes another year. Remove a course when you cannot meet a compulsory requirement; a longer list does not compensate for an ineligible application.
1Confirm programme and funding eligibility together
2Reserve time for language tests and undergraduate CSCA requirements where applicable
3Request transcripts, translations and references early
4Prepare a course-specific study plan or research proposal
5Complete each required portal and save submission evidence
Use the ten-guide China pathway
The funding overview explains CSC coverage and selection. The application guide handles documents and submission. The Type A versus Type B comparison resolves route choice. University guides then show the differences that matter for a particular institution. Use those pages as a linked workflow instead of submitting a generic document pack everywhere.
Admission, scholarship and travel are separate decisions
An academic offer is not always a scholarship award. A scholarship nomination is not necessarily the final result. Wait for the official decision and read its conditions before making non-refundable travel commitments. Verify the study location, start date and original-document checks in the university’s registration instructions.
Keep a copy of every submitted form and of the notice used to prepare it. If the programme changes a requirement, you can ask a precise question rather than relying on an agent’s summary. AspireCompass provides independent guidance and does not accept scholarship applications or promise selection.
