Confirm USTC, degree level and programme

Check that you are reading University of Science and Technology of China, not another institution with a similar English name. Use the official International College and application links for your intake.

Start with undergraduate, master’s, doctoral or non-degree status. Then choose the actual subject and teaching language. A university-wide list of research fields is not confirmation that a specific degree is available in the language and intake you need.

Compare fellowship and scholarship routes

The USTC admissions overview lists ANSO, Chinese Government Scholarship and USTC international-student funding, and links separate fellowship pages by degree level. Read the exact scheme’s eligibility, assessment and support before choosing it in an application.

Do not combine funding amounts from several scheme pages into one package. A stipend, tuition waiver, accommodation arrangement and insurance provision should each be verified for the award category you are applying to.

On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to compare all columns.

Read the current admission guide before writing your file

Check prior qualification, language evidence and programme materials at the correct degree level. For research study, investigate the relevant school and academic group. A broad statement saying you want to study in China is weaker than a plan connected to a defined research question and available supervision.

If supervisor contact or acceptance evidence is required or encouraged in the published route, follow that instruction. Do not assume every degree requires a professor’s letter, and do not treat an informal email as an admission or scholarship award.

Build an application file that can be checked

Organise identity, qualifications, transcripts and the grading explanation. Add language evidence, study or research plans, references and other materials only as required by your current guide. Keep each referee’s task and deadline clear.

Check whether the system requests original documents, translations or a particular file format. If a degree is still in progress, verify the allowed provisional evidence and final completion date. A general expectation that you will graduate is not a substitute for the required certificate.

Cycle status and submission planning

The official admission gateway reviewed for this guide displayed 2026 programme and fellowship links. This does not establish an open 2027 application window. Use the current International College notices to find the newly announced call before choosing a deadline.

Where a CSC or ANSO route requires more than one record or system, check which submission completes each stage. Save the final receipt and application number from every required system, rather than assuming one portal sends everything automatically.

After an offer: verify the remaining financial gap

Read the award letter for duration, continuation conditions and the actual benefits. Check accommodation charges, payments before the first stipend and any costs outside the package. A funding overview can be less specific than the final award.

Then coordinate visa-support documents and arrival instructions with the university. Use the China cost guide to compare tuition, accommodation and one-off expenses without borrowing another university’s prices.
