Shandong University: what is verified and what is pending
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to compare all columns.
| Route / question | Current evidence | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| General master’s instructions | Reviewed guide is for 2026 | Do not present its deadlines as open 2027 dates |
| Scholarship overview | Multiple funding routes are listed | Find the current dated notice for the desired award |
| Next intake | New general 2027 call not verified in this review | Prepare evidence and monitor the official admissions pages |
Begin with degree and programme eligibility
Select bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral admission and open the corresponding international programme catalogue. Confirm your previous qualification, teaching language and any discipline-specific requirements. An award can be available at the university without supporting your chosen degree.
Compare programme structure and research fit before ranking funding options. For a research degree, look at relevant departments and supervision. For a taught programme, check required prior study and the skills the curriculum develops. Use the exact programme name consistently across your statement and forms.
Separate the scholarship families
Shandong’s official overview lists several scholarship routes. Chinese Government Scholarship, university funding and language-teaching scholarships have different purposes and application rules. Do not combine their benefits into a single “Shandong scholarship” package.
For each route, make a note of eligible degree, teaching language, funding class, duration and required portal. An old evergreen page can remain online after a new dated notice changes the rules. Prefer the dated notice for your intake and ask admissions to clarify conflicting instructions.
Use past-cycle instructions for preparation only
A previous guide helps you identify likely document categories, but it does not establish a new deadline, fee or score threshold. Mark the year visibly in your research notes. When the next call appears, compare every time-sensitive field rather than only changing the year in your calendar.
Do not rush into a paid service because an unofficial post claims the university is about to close applications. Find the corresponding official notice. If it cannot be found, treat the claim as unverified and contact the university through the address on its own admissions website.
Build a research or study plan with evidence
Explain your preparation and the academic work you want to undertake. A useful research outline identifies the problem, why it matters, a feasible approach and the skills or resources you need. Avoid promising an outcome before conducting the research.
For a taught degree, connect selected modules to a concrete learning goal. Explain a relevant project or experience in enough detail for a reviewer to understand your contribution. Keep the statement specific to Shandong’s programme without filling it with generic rankings or campus praise.
Plan references and accepted language evidence
Choose referees who know your academic work and give them time to prepare. Provide the programme, your current CV and the required submission method. Check whether recommendations need a particular status, signature or format under the current call.
Read the language requirements for the exact course and degree. A waiver available for one applicant category may not apply to another. Ask for clarification if your prior degree was taught in the required language but your evidence does not match the listed certificates.
Document quality matters as much as file presence
A portal can accept a file that a reviewer cannot read. Inspect scans at normal zoom, include every page and preserve grading explanations. Use clear file names and keep translated and original documents connected. Check identity spelling across certificates and passport records.

Make the funding decision after reading the offer
Ask what the award covers and what remains payable. Separate tuition, accommodation, insurance, living costs, travel and arrival expenses. Check whether renewal depends on academic review. A preliminary offer or nomination should not be presented as final scholarship approval.
Keep Shandong in a balanced shortlist with other suitable programmes. A careful comparison of academic fit, application readiness and verified funding is more useful than applying to every university with the same documents.
