Scholarships in Pakistan for students studying locally
Choose domestic funding by university, degree level and financial profile. Public-sector grants, university aid and preparation programmes have different entry points.
For study inside Pakistan, start with your university’s Financial Aid Office. HEC Need-Based funding operates through participating public-sector institutions; university schemes such as LUMS NOP and NUST aid have their own eligibility and application stages. Availability must be confirmed for your campus and intake.
Next step: Identify your institution and degree level, then use the route table and ask the named aid office about the current call.

This guide covers education within Pakistan. Overseas undergraduate, master’s and MBA funding has different admission, nomination and travel requirements; use the separate level guides for those decisions.

HEC Need-Based: apply through the institution
The official scheme is tied to selected public-sector institutions and the published undergraduate eligibility. It is not a universal payment to every student in every university. Self-finance admission does not meet the cited eligibility.
Ask the Financial Aid Office whether your programme and campus participate, whether applications are currently accepted and which assessed household documents are required. Submit through the institution’s stated route rather than sending the form directly to HEC.
Confirm participation and degree eligibility.
Use the institution’s actual application window and form.
Explain household income, dependants and relevant expenses accurately.
Retain submission evidence and attend an assessment if required.
Read continuation, other-award and reporting conditions before accepting.
The reviewed NOP instructions require at least 80% Matric marks or equivalent O-level grades together with financial need. Applicants must follow the current preparation/selection stage; meeting a threshold does not guarantee entry or funding.
Separate NOP participation, university admission and the eventual financial-aid decision in your tracker. A student already admitted to another institution should not assume this school-stage pipeline functions like a transferable fee grant.
NUST’s need-based procedure uses the NFAAF. The initial form deadline follows the admission application instructions. An emergency request during an academic cycle is a different process, not a substitute for an omitted initial form.
Check the appropriate applicant or enrolled-student route, required household evidence and university communication. Keep a record of any awarded grant, fee adjustment or other product so that repayment and continuation conditions are clear.
The Scotland Pakistan 2026 page describes a women-focused route with eligible bachelor’s/master’s subjects and an admission requirement. Its extended 15 September 2026 deadline is past as of this review. A remaining application button does not establish a new open cycle.
Provincial funds can restrict domicile, institution, study level, quota or marks. Check the actual fund’s current official call. We have not filled a PEEF row with old policy numbers because the current conditions were not established in this review. Do not treat similarly named funds or unofficial application sellers as interchangeable.
The fund decides the final checklist. Commonly requested information can include household members, income sources, employment or pension evidence, relevant assets, educational expenses and admission/enrolment details. Prepare an inventory first rather than collecting sensitive papers for an unverified offer.
Use consistent names, dates and household explanations. When an income source is irregular or evidence is unavailable, ask the aid office how to document the actual situation. Do not invent an income certificate or hide another award.

A scholarship does not always cover every expense
List tuition, mandatory charges, hostel/rent, meals, transport, books and any recurring equipment costs. Mark whether an award pays the university, reimburses later or provides a stipend. An approved amount and the timing of the first payment answer different budget questions.
Original example: if an institution confirms a tuition reduction but the student still owes hostel and transport charges, those costs remain in the funding gap. A loan may help with timing but carries repayment obligations. Keep loan support separate from a non-repayable award.
Ask the aid office a precise question
A short enquiry is more useful when it includes your programme, campus, admission category and study year. Ask whether the named scheme is currently accepting applications, what form to use and what deadline controls your case.
Teaching example
Adaptable financial-aid enquiry
I am an applicant/enrolled student in [programme, campus and year]. Does [scheme] accept applications for my category in the current cycle? Please share the official form, deadline, financial-evidence checklist and whether the support is a grant, fee reduction or repayable loan.
Use the published institutional contact. Do not send private financial records to an unverified address.
Official sources and verification
Source records support the guide. Page update dates describe editorial changes; they do not mean every linked rule was checked again today. Reopen the current call for your programme and intake.
Can I send the HEC Need-Based form directly to HEC?+
The cited procedure directs eligible students through the university Financial Aid Office, not direct submission to HEC.
Does every Pakistani university offer the same scholarship?+
No. Institution participation, degree level, admission category, domicile and the available fund matter.
Is NOP participation a guaranteed LUMS admission?+
No. It is part of a preparation/selection pathway with its own academic and need criteria.
Is the Scotland Pakistan 2026 application still open?+
The dedicated page’s extended 15 September 2026 deadline is past as of 28 October. Wait for a new official call rather than assuming an apply button reopens it.
