EPFL’s Life Sciences SRP page lists applications open for 2027, closing 15 November 2026. The programme runs 5 July–27 August 2027. This guide covers Life Sciences SRP specifically, not every EPFL summer scheme.
Next step: Read the official eligibility page, prepare your short answers and transcript, and confirm a referee before starting the form.
Named cycle and deadline status
Dated records are compared with today's date in your browser. The current programme portal remains the authority for availability and applicant conditions.
The official application page gives 15 November 2026 at 23:59 CET as the deadline. It targets enrolled life-sciences-related students who will have completed at least two undergraduate years through the first master’s year by the programme start. It lists a 3.75/4.0 equivalent or top-5% academic criterion. Read the FAQ for borderline or unusual grading situations rather than claiming eligibility from an approximate calculator.
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to compare all columns.
EPFL’s description states CHF 3,600 for two months, with housing paid from that amount beforehand and approximately CHF 1,700 remaining for living costs. Published travel reimbursement limits are CHF 1,000 for overseas flights and CHF 500 for shorter journeys. Keep the funding total separate from the amount available after housing.
For a personal cash-flow plan, distinguish what you may need to pay before departure from what is reimbursed later. Keep a small contingency for your own discretionary spending. Do not add the value of programme-arranged housing to the full stipend as if both were separate cash payments.
Prepare outside the form, then submit in one sitting
The application page says the form cannot be saved and resumed. Prepare the materials first. EPFL’s FAQ describes short personal and lab-choice answers rather than a formal CV/motivation-letter upload, and says a referee receives the upload invitation after you submit. This changes the preparation order: checking referee availability must happen before the final submission, not after it.
Copy the current prompts into a private working document and note each character limit. Draft with space to spare, then check the actual field counter in the official portal. A word count and a character count are different. Do not rely on a generic scholarship letter where the form asks for several separate answers.
For each lab, read its current research description and one relevant paper or project. Record the question, a method you want to understand, evidence of your preparation and a reason the lab fits that learning need. Choosing only by prestige produces little material for a specific scientific answer.
Teaching example
Original lab-choice planning model
Research question: what does this group investigate? Method: which technique or analytical approach would I learn? Preparation: which course/project gives me a starting point? Contribution: what can I realistically assist with while learning? Evidence: which lab page or paper supports my understanding?
A planning framework. Do not invent skills, publications, project agreements or supervisor contact.
Submission and reference handoff
Use the transcript instructions and the actual portal fields as the final checklist. Ask your referee whether they can respond promptly once the invitation arrives. After submission, save the confirmation and check the reference-management instructions rather than uploading a letter yourself.
For travel, the FAQ says reimbursement occurs after the programme and visa-required participants receive programme instructions. This means funding and cash availability are different questions. Wait for the official invitation and instructions before treating travel or visa arrangements as settled.
